Meet April Davis, Derrick Lewis' wife

Rising through the ranks of MMA and reaching the UFC is not at all easy. A lot of sacrifices need to be made before even getting to smell a contract that Dana White would offer. Derrick Lewis had to undergo all these challenges along with taking in menial jobs. Many people would not want to date someone who is very preoccupied by their career but someone made an exception for this star.
Derrick Lewis was not at the best time of his life when he met April Davis. At that point in his life, he was still a truck driver who tried to balance his interests in trying to make the UFC. However, he was persistent when the opportunity presented itself. Even his wife notes how great of a man he was back when they had just met: “His cousin Kendrick, introduced me and Derrick. So we initially talked on the phone. When I first talked to Derrick on the phone, he was just telling me he was really black. The next day he just showed up on my door, I didn’t tell him where I lived. So yeah.”
From then on, they started dating and fell in love with each other. Finally, they decided to get married in 2017 and crafted a life together. They also welcomed two boys and a girl into the world as the two had time to build a family.
Right now, it looks like it was Davis' belief in Lewis which is helping them a lot. He made his way from amateur fights to Bellator and then the UFC. It was very clear that her love was more than enough to propel him to reach for the stars and achieve his dreams. Their love looks like it will endure a lot of trials and challenges due to how supportive they are of one another.
