Martial arts usually puts the body and life of a person on the line. Whether the fight is on the octagon or the ring, there are many bodily damages to one that could be irreversible once they age. This is why UFC fighters and boxers are compensated accordingly. As they grow in terms of popularity and bring in more viewers, the amount of cash that they take home through the fight and endorsements also skyrockets. However, who does make more between these two types of fighters?
For the UFC, Conor McGregor has been the one to notch the highest fight earnings out of everyone. Just from fights alone, he was able to amass about $25.3 million. Obviously, he is a top-end superstar and a lot of people want to watch him. But, Dana White still gives his stars a hefty amount. They are able to earn somewhere between $80,000 to half a million on just one fight.
Professional boxers, on the other hand, earn a pretty penny too. The highest-paid fighter on the ring right now is Anthony Joshua. Due to this 27 wins in 30 bouts, he was able to earn about $250 million. If one is quick to judge, they might think that the boxer earns way more than a UFC fighter but that's not the case. Boxers only earn about $64,000 a year which means that they have to fight a lot to even get to that amount annually.
So, it is pretty clear. A superstar boxer may earn more than someone who has a lot of acclaim in the UFC. However, someone who is in Dana White's company earns way more than a mid-level boxer annually. This does make sense because one sport has gotten a lot more traction throughout history while the other is just starting out and isn't even half a century old.
