The Love Story

Meeting at Baylor University

Brittney and Cherelle met for the first time at Baylor University in Texas, where both studied between 2009-2013. Cherelle tapped Brittney on the shoulder and said she took her milkshake at their first meeting. However, this isn't what happened. "All could see was beauty," says a beguiled Brittney about being infatuated with Cherelle. Despite the romantic encounter, they did not start dating for a few more years.

Falling in Love

Brittney left her husband more than a decade ago. It wasn't until 2016, following another divorce, that Brittney and Cherelle started dating. In one word, Brittney says it was "easy". She knew she had to have Cherelle in her life forever and that Cherelle was the 'one'. Their bond grew more solid, based on mutual beliefs and true empathy for each other's dreams & obstacles.

Marriage Milestones

Engagement and Wedding

In August 2018, Brittney got down on one knee and asked Cherelle for her hand in marriage, opening a new chapter in their quest to be married. Having gotten the love and support she deserved, we thank Cherelle for her sacrifices, and Brittney made sure this moment was as heartfelt as it came. In June 2019, they married in the company of their family and friends to celebrate.

Media Public Life Advocacy

They have appeared publicly at high-profile events, such as the White House Correspondents' Dinner, where they met President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. The event underscored their emerging power and the backing they received while Brittney was held in Russia.

Challenges and Triumphs

Detaining Brittney In Russia

Brittney spent seven months in a Russian detention facility, and that is one of the biggest hurdles they had to overcome. Throughout this time, Cherelle would lead the call for Brittney's freedom. She made a third documentary about it, eventually appealing to our government that had facilitated her daughter being held prisoner.

Cherelle's campaigning paid off when Brittney was freed in a prisoner swap announced in December 2022. While the toll of this ordeal strained their relationship, it also brought them closer together, with Cherelle standing by Brittney at every moment and offering her love.

Growth Development, Personally and Professionally

Brittney and Cherelle have grown a lot personally and professionally amid these challenges. Cherelle, a law school grad studying for the bar, helps Brittney through legal troubles and her burgeoning career as a professional athlete.

This pair of former best friends shows that two people can grow separated by distance or time, but the bond between them remains unbroken and only strengthens as they continue to support one another.

Future Plans

The couple broke the ice with their newlywed life and recently shared that they are expecting a little one of their own, as he puts it, 'Chapter 2'. It was an exciting development that showed they are still working on their future family regardless of the roadblocks that were put in place.
