After three years in Tuscaloosa, Traeshon Holden is now headed north as he transfers from Alabama to Oregon.
Traeshon Holden is coming off a breakout campaign during his redshirt sophomore season. He had 25 catches for 331 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns, which was tied with Jermaine Burton for second on the team.
But despite being one of the top targets for Alabama QB Bryce Young, Traeshon Holden decided to enter the transfer portal. And now, he is ready to spread his wings further with the Ducks, where he figures to make an immediate impact.
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning had a strong passing attack this past season, which was led by another SEC transfer - former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix - as well as sophomore receiver Troy Franklin. The Ducks finished fourth in both passing yards and passing touchdowns in the Pac-12, and Holden’s addition has the potential to push those rankings even higher.
Traeshon Holden's arrival adds another exciting receiving weapon for Bo Nix, which the Ducks desperately needed. The next leading receiver for Oregon behind Franklin (56 catches, 867 yards, 8 TDs) last season was Kris Hutson, who had 42 catches for 463 yards and no TDs. At 6-foot-3, Holden can be a prime endzone target, and he also has the ability to make big plays on the open field.
Two other wide receivers - Dont’e Thornton and Seven McGee - have entered the transfer portal, while Chase Cota - the team’s third-leading receiver (33 catches, 455 yards, 2 TDs) - has exhausted his eligibility.
So the stage is all set for Traeshon Holden to make a massive step up in his collegiate career. He will have a much bigger role within Oregon’s offense, which was a big driver in his decision to transfer to the Ducks, and he is more than ready to spread his wings and fly in Eugene.
