The Georgia Bulldogs are once again in the CFP National Championship game and are on the brink of becoming the first back-to-back national champions since SEC rivals Alabama achieved the feat back in 2011-12.
Quarterback Stetson Bennett has received much of the plaudits as he's produced another fantastic season. But running back Kenny McIntosh has been just as crucial to the Bulldogs' success this season and will be key once again come the national championship game.
Kenny McIntosh finally became Georgia's feature back in his senior season, and he was absolutely sensational in that role. He had 779 rushing yards on 5.5 yards per carry with 10 rushing touchdowns, and he added 42 catches for 506 yards and two scores. His 1,285 yards from scrimmage and 12 total touchdowns were far and away the most on the team.
Kenny McIntosh put in a heroic performance in their win over Ohio State to make it to their second straight title game. Despite suffering flu-like symptoms just prior to the big game, the senior running back still put up 126 yards from scrimmage with a receiving touchdown to help the Bulldogs edge the Buckeyes, 42-41.
He could have easily had another score as he ran past the Ohio State D and had a clear path to the end zone, but he unfortunately tripped on the turf before he could get his deserved touchdown.
That big-play ability is just one of the reasons why Kenny McIntosh will be key for Georgia against TCU in the national championship game. With his dual-threat ability, he makes Georgia's offense so much more difficult to stop.
He, Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton form a terrific three-headed monster at running back that helps the Bulldog attack chugging along. And when the opposition is stacking the box to try and stop the run, Kenny McIntosh can punish them by being a playmaker in the passing game.
With this in mind, Kenny McIntosh will clearly be key for Georgia in their big game against TCU. And don’t be the least bit surprised if he winds up being the big player in the Bulldogs successfully getting their back-to-back titles.
