The beautiful love story of Mike Norvell and Maria Norvell started back in their college days. For an entire college career, Mike was a head coach, and Maria was always the steady presence behind him. While Mike was excited about his first offer for a full-time coaching job at Delta State, Maria had her concerns moving forward. But she would have to give up a bit of her own security as well, leaving behind her job as an HR manager at Target and joining Mike in Tulsa.

In the early years, money was tight, and Mike had a meager income at Tulsa. Maria held an almost blind faith in Mike as a Division I coach, and her sacrifices show the lengths both were willing to go for each other.

Mike enjoyed a prosperous coaching career, and being married to someone equally comfortable on his side helped them handle plenty of pressure points. Their shared focus on strong communication, teamwork, and understanding has been vital for both Norvells.
