Allan Haye Jr. is saying so long to South Beach and hello to the City of Brotherly Love as he transfers from the University of Miami to Temple for the 2023 season.
A native of Hollywood, Florida, Allan Haye Jr. saw limited playing time in his two years at Coral Gables. After redshirting last season, he played in two games this year and registered one tackle.
But there's just bundles of potential ready to burst out of Allan Haye Jr. and that massive 6-foot-1, over 300-pound frame of his. After all, this is someone who got into football late and is still coming into his own as a player.
Clearly all the tools are there. Aside from his massive build, which is quite good for a defensive tackle, he has some impressive quickness for his size.
And while he was not able to showcase all of his talents at Miami, Allan Haye Jr. will finally get to do so at Temple, where his presence on the defensive side of the ball will be very much welcome.
Temple’s defense suffered a major blow as star defensive lineman Darian Varner entered the transfer portal and committed to Virginia Tech. Varner had been one of Temple’s top edge rushers over the last couple of years. He recorded 10.5 sacks during that time, including 7.5 this season.
The Owls had their share of problems against the run last season. They gave up 192.6 yards per game, which was the fourth-most in the American, as well as 21 rushing touchdowns allowed, which was tied for third-most.
That makes Allan Haye Jr.’s arrival in Philadelphia all the more important. The big defensive lineman will be given every opportunity to play and make an instant impact on a defensive unit that could certainly use an impact player.
