Under head coach Billy Napier, Florida’s 2025 recruiting class ranks 10th nationally and 7th in the SEC, boasting a composite rating of 92.19 according to On3.com. With a blend of in-state talent and coveted out-of-state prospects, the Gators are positioning themselves to reclaim their status as a national powerhouse.
A Class Built on Balance and Potential
Florida’s 2025 recruiting haul includes 27 commitments and seven transfers, with a strong emphasis on blue-chip talent 59% of the class carries that designation. Notably, 44% of commitments hail from Florida, underscoring the program’s success in securing local stars. The average NIL value for these recruits is approximately $103,000, reflecting the program’s competitiveness in the modern college football landscape.
Among the standout signees is wide receiver Vernell Brown III from Orlando, Florida, rated 96.95 by On3.com and ranked among the nation’s top receivers. Brown’s speed and route-running ability are expected to provide quarterback DJ Lagway with a dynamic weapon. Other key additions include cornerback Ben Hanks III (Miami, FL) and defensive end Jalen Wiggins (Tallahassee, FL), both bringing size, athleticism, and upside to Florida’s defense.
Kekua Aumua: A Polynesian Pipeline in the Making
The Gators recently secured a commitment from tight end Kekua Aumua, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound prospect from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Aumua, who hails from Hawaii, brings a physical presence and versatility to the tight end position. Despite being a three-star recruit, he drew 19 offers from Power Five programs including North Carolina and Washington, signaling his potential impact.
Aumua’s recruitment was driven by the strong relationships built by Coach Napier and tight ends coach Callaway, who maintained consistent engagement throughout the process. “What really stood out to me was the connection Billy Napier established with us and the bond coach Callaway continued to develop,” Aumua said. “Many colleges show interest but then ease off, but coach Callaway stayed fully engaged.”
Importantly, Aumua hinted at the Gators’ ambition to establish a Polynesian pipeline, noting, “We’re far from home and looking to start that Polynesian pipeline here.” This cultural connection could open new recruiting avenues for Florida in the talent-rich Pacific region.
