Time moving fast is such a tough pill to swallow. In just two more years, Hoosiers will be 40 years old which means that the lovely bunch from Hickory, Indiana have not been seen together for such a long time. Where are the cast members of this iconic basketball movie now and are they doing good?
For starters, three key actors on Hoosiers have passed away. These are Kent Poole who played Merle Webb, Dennis Hooper who played Shooter Flatch, and Sheb Woodley who played Cletus Summers. The actor who portrayed Strap Purl, Scott Summer, has also lived such a private life that their whereabouts are unknown to the public.
Only two other stars in Hoosiers continued their acting career after this. Gene Hackman who portrayed Norman Dale on the big screen still had a few stints on television before he retired and made a book in 2013. The other person who is still an active actor is Myra Fleener. Barbara Hershey has gone on to star on Paradise Lost and The Portrait of a Lady after her role on the 1986 film.
As for the others, they pursued other paths that were very far from acting. Maris Valainis, Steve Hollar, and Brad long for instance had very impactful careers. They went on to work on renewable energy, dentistry, and motivational speaking.
Back then, this film was epitome of having different kinds of people from various backgrounds come together for the sake of basketball. Now, it just looks like everybody thrived independently without being too attached to the movie.
