Baylor and its basketball program was always highly regarded for the longest time. However, there was one incident that uncovered the dark side of the Bears brotherhood. It all involved Patrick Dennehy and Carlton Dotson. What happened between these two which led to one of the darkest days in all of college basketball? This article will uncover everything there is to know.
Patrick Dennehy and Carlton Dotson had big hoop dreams. This is why they opted to join the Baylor basketball program such that their hopes of making it to the NBA could stay alive. But, the two were fearing for their lives long before the 2003 college basketball season started. It all led to both of them purchasing guns for safety purposes but this would prove to be a turning point in their lives.
Dotson apparently had an argument with Dennehy despite their closeness together. This escalated to the point where guns had to be drawn. Unfortunately, Dotson fired the gun which subsequently killed his teammate in the Baylor basketball program. He immediately hid the body but scavenging animals tore parts of it. This made it so that Dennehy's body and head ended up being severed.
Dotson faced homicide for the crime that he had committed. Up to this very day, he is still incarcerated but has already been granted parole after being sentenced to 35 years in prison. Baylor, on the other hand, have been all that they could since the incident such that it does not happen again.
