According to the NFHS Basketball Rules Book (the official rules for high school basketball), players must wear a jersey with numbers that are 4 inches tall in the front and 6 inches on the back. The only caveat is that the NFHS rules do not allow the wearing of "00" for a number in hoops.

The NFHS does not explain why the number 00 is prohibited. However, it could be because the two digits side by side look similar to 10 and can confuse officials and scorekeepers throughout the contest.

Note that the NFHS/NCAA rules are limited to guidelines for game-day uniform appearance. For instance, your jerseys must be tucked in at a bare minimum of four inches, and under-jersey tees are not allowed. Plain Arabic numerals for all jersey numbers are the same relative size as football or lacrosse and in a contrasting color to the base of your jerseys.

In addition, the NFHS mandates that "team jerseys shall include only a single visible square-inch manufacturer's logo/trademark or reference on the outside of each item below the neckline." Each player must wear an elastic compression shirt; undershirts can also be made from moisture-wicking fabric. The team tops need to feature just one solid color in the chest area, and it is encouraged for home teams' primary colors to be white while visiting teams are provided with a contrasting dark color jersey.

From the neckline to the shoulder seam and from overarm to underarm in the yoke upper chest area & back panels, no color or design restrictions; side inserts shall not exceed 4 inches wide (at top), 2 1⁄4" at fold line and trim, and piping cannot extend more than 1 inch around arm openings. The regulation of logos, flags, patches, and identifying names will also be strict with their size, location, and design.

Players must adhere to these uniform rules otherwise, they will be penalized and called technical fouls. Uniform violations are technical fouls, which not only give your opponent free throws but also cause you to be disqualified if continued.
Playing high school sports might be enjoyable and great for you physically and mentally. Showing you are a good team player means following the rules and regulations determined by the sports governing body (NFHS).

All in all, the NFHS doesn't permit players to wear the number "00" in a high school basketball game. In addition to having your uniform follow the rules, there are also guidelines for its appearance in order not to receive penalties or be disqualified. For the times they are in high school, playing sports can be a great thing — and part of that should involve behaving properly as both an athlete on their respective team and technically even better as governed by rules set forth by the athletic association.
