The absence of Brittney Griner from the 2024 WNBA season is one of the high profile cases of people being absent. And this absence is largely due to a sprained toe in practice, where they cannot get her to contribute as much in the league as they would like.

With that being said, let's quickly explore the events leading up to Brittney Griner's injury, her NBA career, and her personal life.

Return from Injury and 2024 WNBA Season

Nine-time All-Star Brittney Griner has a fractured toe that has sidelined her for the 2024 WNBA season. She has been seen out of her boot and making strides, but her absence from the team persists.

The absence of her play has been felt by Phoenix all season long, especially as the Mercury have struggled to maintain any sort of frontcourt firepower.

As a result, she is still on the injury report and a status for her return to the game is in doubt as well. 

Personal Life and Challenges

On top of her hoop dreams, Griner has lived through some intense life huddles that have taken over a year to fight their way past this sharp focus on what's next full-time travel and her own health.

Even amidst difficulties, she sees the good, and she says she is excited to welcome a baby to this world with her wife, Cherelle Griner.

Also, Brittney Griner has addressed some of her mental health challenges and encouraged others to take care of and be available for help.

Her willingness to share her story has brought awareness to the struggles athletes face and adds to the important discussions on the topic of mental health in sports.

Through her career and struggles, passion for mental health began to grow, and her journey is a beautiful reflection of resilience and courage.

Progressing through her recovery and fatherhood acceptance, Brittney Griner proves to be indomitable influencer in WNBA and her lasting legacy
