Professionals in the world of boxing tend to give up a lot when they stop on the canvas. They put their bodies and lives on the line with every hit absorbed from the punches of opponents. Along with this comes a hefty paychecks and this often means converting that cash into a cozy home. Evander Holyfield, for instance, has a mansion. Being a legend of his caliber means that he has a big house, right?
Well, he does. Evander Holyfield owned a big $20 million mansion in Georgia. This Fayeteville estate was measured at around 45,000 square feet. The home had a lot of amenities and was already ahead of its time when the legendary boxer bought it back in 1994.
But, a big house of this size often means a lot of maintenance costs. Boxing is a sport where people tend to have short careers and a stint in the media or elsewhere would be necessary to keep an insane estate like this. So, the mansion ended up being sold because his annual costs would come at around $1 million and the monthly electricity bill was estimated to be $17,000.
The Fayeteville home was sold to a bank for $7.5 million due to all these operating costs. It was then marked up to $8.2 million because of the fact that Holyfield used to live there. Eventually, Rick Ross got wind off the property and bought it. Despite the big numbers listed above, he was able to buy the legendary figther's home for just $5.8 million.
Hopefully, Ross does not encounter the same problems as Holyfield. One edge that he does have over the fighter is that he works with music. Unlike boxing, he can earn off it longer and even span a lifetime because there's not much physical force or decay over time involved in the craft.
