Daniel Dubois shocked the boxing last month by dominating Anthony Joshua through 5 rounds. Dubois's performance was nothing short of dominant. He knocked down Joshua four times. In rounds one, three, and four, before delivering the knockout blow in round five.Despite the lopsided performance, a rematch has been welcome due to the success of the first fight. Over 96,000 fans attended Joshua vs Dubois last month, breaking the British boxing record. It is the most lucrative fight Daniel Dubois can make for his first title defense.
At Bivol vs. Beterbiev, His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh talked about his future plans, including another Matchroom vs. Queensbury card. When asked about upcoming fighters he’d like to work with, he told Sky Sport.
“Joshua Dubious, Tyson Usyk everyone.” It appears likely we will see Anthony Joshua in at least one more title fight. As longas Joshua is the face of British Boxing and one of the top draws in the sport, he will be put in positions to fight for world titles.
"We have done it twice. Doing it a third time has not been easy, but I believe it is something I can achieve." Signaling his desire to continue his career and fight at the championship level again. With His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh on board, it appears inevitable that Joshua will share the ring with Dubois. But not so fast says Dubois promoter Frank Warren.
“He will fight early next year. We are just looking at a few matches. I hope we get it done by next week, which he’ll be facing. It may be AJ, it may not.” Warren told TalkSport earlier this week.
His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh has a great relationship with both Frank Warren and Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn. If His Excellency wants to see this fight and make it happen, it will happen.
However, if this fight does happen it needs to happen by April. Dubois is the IBF champion, and the IBF is the strictest boxing sanctioning committee when it comes to defending the title.
Dubois only became the IBF champion because the IBF forced Oleksandr Usyk to vacate the title because he could not face his mandate by their deadline following becoming the first Undisputed heavyweight champion Champion in over 20 years.
Daniel Dubois's decisive victory over Anthony Joshua has set the stage for a potential rematch, highlighting both fighters' prominence in British boxing and the lucrative opportunities that may lie ahead. With Dubois now holding the IBF title and the support of influential promoters, the boxing community eagerly anticipates the next developments of his career. He has a bright future ahead. But Anthony Joshua has been to come back time and again. A rematch would answer all the questions.
