Gervonta Davis To Fight Lamont Roach in December

Gervonta Davis is set to fight on Lamont Roach on December 14th at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas.
Davis is one of the biggest names in boxing but his resume is something many boxing have criticized. Gervonta Davis needs to silence his critics, fight tougher opponents, and take more risks and challenges. This will be great for boxing as Tank’s legacy on the whole. It appeared he was willing to do that earlier this year when the Davis vs Lomachenko fight was announced. After several rumors of a clash with Vasily Lomachenko, Davis switched gears after Lomachenko stated he was not motivated to fight again in 2024.
"Tank and Lomachenko were in deep talks and there is a lot of talk that Lomachenko is going to retire." Boxing Insider Mike Coppinger stated on ESPN.

Another great fighter in the lightweight division, Shakur Stevenson had a booked for October 12th that was later canceled due to injury. There was not a lot of options for Davis. Unfortunately, the announcement of Davis fighting Roach, who is coming up from the 130lb division to take on Davis is not something fans are enjoying.
"The dude looks like a total fraud, put him in the ring with somebody who can punch back, somebody with High IQ" Hall of Fame boxer Timothy Bradley told ESPN. Bradley has long been one of Davis's harshest critics. He does not believe Davis has fought anyone on his level which is a popular opinion.
Lamont Roach is a solid fighter. He is 25-1-1 and WBA super featherweight champion. Still, Davis is a heavy favorite in this fight. He is a three-division champion who is 30-0 with 28 knockouts. Davis has not fought anyone who is as equally accomplished in boxing as he is. The criticism is fair. The outcome of this fight appears obvious. Hopefully, Stevenson or Lomachenko can share the ring with Davis in 2025.
