Becoming a legend in the WWE is a very hard task. A lot of wrestlers need to rise up to the ranks of amateur and professional wrestling first before even getting to sign a contract with the prestigious company. Dusty Rhodes defied all these odds and managed to become one of the best. However, he could not have pulled throughout without someone by his side throughout all the decades.
Dusty Rhodes was not always cut out to be a wrestler. In fact, a lot of people pushed him to be someone working behind the ring instead. However, he saw an opportunity to keep wrestling and had all the motivation to do well in his endeavor. There were many stressors that piled up on him as he ascended to the WWE. At one point, he even had to endure a divorce with his previous wife of ten years, Sandra McHargue.
Not long after, Rhodes' split with his first wife he met Michelle Rubio. They got married in 1978 and had two kids together. Throughout that time, he got better as a wrestler in the WCW and WWE. His success on the canvas saw him notch a net worth of about $3 million. Off of it, he was able to raise his kids well with Rubio and have a fairly nice life together before calling it a career.
Unfortunately, Rhodes could not prolong his stay with Michelle. In 2015, he suffered a tough fall. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and it was reported that his collapse was due to a kidney failure. He died at the age of 69 but was with the loving embrace of his wife then.
