The WWE and WWF are perhaps the most-organized and well-known professional wrestling companies in the world. This means that they take extra care of their athletes and performers in every stage of the match up to its end. But, accidents may happen in this sports. So, has anyone died while being part of a WWE bout?
Well, the short answer is yes. A handful of wrestlers suffered a very unfortunate fate after showcasing their talents in the ring. Here are just a few names that ring a bell in people's mind when it comes to this topic:
Owen Hart
This story is very devastating to hear about. Owen Hart was about to get in the ring against The Godfather for a chance to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship. However, his entrance did not pan out as the organizers had imagined. Instead of being safely harnessed down to the ring, he fell with his chest hitting the canvas at a fatal height.
He was still rushed to the hospital and the WWF match got cancelled. But, the doctors just could not save him despite many attempts of revival. By the end, he passed away from internal bleeding because of the incident. He was just 34 when it happened.
Perro Aguayo Jr.
This accident may not have been on the WWE or WWF ring but it still involved one of their stars. Rey Mysterio is a popular figure in the world of entertainment wrestling. He was in a match against Perro Aguayo Jr. and just unleashed an insanely athletic 619. However, Aguayo just could not get up anymore. It took some time before he was rushed to the hospital. However, he eventually died from cervical spine trauma at 35 years old.
Brian Ong
Another incident that involved a WWE wrestler despite it not happening on the ring was the case of Brian Ong. He was set to train with The Great Khali but events turned sour immediately. Ong was still not cleared from a concussion that he had experienced just a couple of days before this. Nonetheless, he along with the rest of the trainers pushed through with it. Unfortunately, the towering wrestler hit Ong so badly that he crashed head-first and even sustained damages to his tailbone. This caused his death at just 27 years old.
