Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returned to the WWE world once again on Saturday at Bad Blood. The Main Event concluded with Roman Reigns pinning Solo Sikoa. Afterward, Sokoa and his Bloodline attacked Reign’s rival turned tag team partner Cody Rhodes. Reigns came back into the ring to defend Rhodes and handed him back the WWE undisputed title that Rhodes took from Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
Once Reigns showed respect for Rhodes, the classic Rock music hit, exciting WWE fans worldwide.
"You have to be the biggest star in the world to be able to hit your music, walk out, blow the roof of the place, and I'm out. And it’s epic.” HHH stated about the Rock’s return at Bad Bloods post-fight press conference.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the biggest stars in the world. He is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. His involvement with Cody Rhodes’s storyline leading up to WrestleMania 40 and creating the Final Boss character helped create one of the best WrestleMania's in history.
Following WrestleMania 40 the rock stated that he plans to return for Cody Rhodes and WWE's undisputed title. However, his return resulted from the apparent frustration of the respect between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Is the Rock back to face Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns?
“It feels like this could be civil war happening” the Rock exclaimed on an Instagram live video after Bad Blood.
The Rock vs Roman Reigns is a match that has been building up for years. Both Roman Reigns and Dwayne Johnson are of Samoan Ancestry. Reigns's Tribal Chief character in WWE is the Head of the Table or head of the family.
“Should the Rock sit at a booth? Should the rock sit at the bar? Or should the rock sit at the head of the table”- The Rock teased at his return to the WWE in January.”
Given the Rock’s busy schedules with promoting his upcoming films Red One, Moana 2, and A24's The Smashing Machine are scheduled to drop release within the next few months, it is hard to tell how much of him we will see in WWE in the coming months. One thing I think fans expect is to see the Rock at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas in April.
Whether the Rock continues his Final Boss character to bring torment to the life of WWE’s ultimate hero Cody Rhodes or to create a Bloodline Civil War storyline to build up the match with Roman Reigns it will be must must-watch TV. Perhaps he has the time to do both feuds? One thing is for certain the WWE’s future is very bright with the Rock in the mix again.
