Isaiah Canaan will keep pursuing what he loves, no matter where it takes him. The 31-year-old guard has bounced around a lot during his basketball career.
While he’s yet to find a permanent home for his talents, Isaiah Canaan isn’t complaining. He’s actually enjoying the wild, unpredictable ride.
Isaiah Canaan’s hoops dreams began at a young age, becoming an instant standout for his hometown Biloxi High School and leading them to a 5A Mississippi state championship.
Despite being an undersized combo guard, Isaiah Canaan proved he can play in the collegiate level and improved year after year for Murray State.
In his senior season, the proud Fan Arch athlete averaged 21.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.5 rebounds on 43.1 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent from three.
The NBA soon came calling, and he was picked 34th overall in the second round by the Houston Rockets. Earning playing time wasn’t easy, but Isaiah Canaan made it happen.
After learning the ropes in Houston, Isaiah Canaan was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers where he showcased his ability to produce buckets. He averaged double-figures in scoring in almost two seasons in Philly.
He started 77 of his 235 games played in the league, including brief stops with the Bulls, Suns, Timberwolves, and Bucks.
Isaiah Canaan has career averages of 8.1 points on 37.1 percent shooting from the field and 35.1 percent from long distance. Not bad for a supposed journeyman, eh?

The NBA might have closed its door to Isaiah Canaan for now, but he’s working his butt off to open those once again. Since his departure with the Bucks in 2019, the sharpshooting guard returned to the G-League with the Stockton Kings and entertained offers overseas.
After splitting time with t.he UNICS Kazan and Galatasaray, Isaiah Canaan has agreed to a deal with EuroLeague powerhouse Olympiacos of the Greek Basket League.
As his Instagram bio suggests, Isaiah Canaan will continue “chasing a dream and won’t stop until it’s accomplished”. Isaiah Canaan still got a whole lot of game left. His experiences abroad have certainly made him a more complete player so far. If he keeps this up, don’t be surprised if Isaiah Canaan makes it back to the NBA.
