ESPN Believes Luka Doncic Can Win NBA MVP in 2024-25

ESPN recently published their predictions for the 2024-25 NBA season via their Summer Forecast panel, in which they had Luka Doncic winning his first league MVP award.
In the straw poll, Luka Doncic received 61 points (48 percent of first-place votes), which is over the likes of last year's winner Nikola Jokic (40 points), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (37 points), Anthony Edwards (15 points), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (13 points).
Luka Doncic is coming off the best season of his career so far after leading the Dallas Mavericks to their first NBA Finals appearance since they won it all in 2010-11.
The Slovenian guard averaged a league-high 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 1.4 steals in 70 regular season games in 2023-24.
He was close to winning the NBA regular season MVP award last season, finishing third in the voting behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic.
The Dallas Mavericks guard received four first-place votes, 36 second-place votes, 50 third-place votes, and eight fourth-place votes for a total of 566 points.

The Dallas Mavericks got better this offseason with their acquisitions of Klay Thompson, Spencer Dinwiddie, Quentin Grimes, and Naji Marshall.
The hope for the team is that they'll get a handful of vintage performances from Klay Thompson this upcoming season, as the 34-year-old averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 43 percent shooting from the field last season.
