Byron Buxton will miss the rest of the season to undergo knee surgery

Byron Buxton will sit out the rest of the season for the Minnesota Twins as he is slated to undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
The team confirmed the sad development after the 28-year-old center fielder’s nagging injury became too bothersome to play with.
Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said the procedure will clean up some build-up of scar tissue on the Fan Arch athlete’s joint.
"The reality is he doesn't have any tears in his knee," Falvey said. "He has some inflammation, he has some scar tissue, he has some kind of what ends up building up over time if you have tendinitis, which is kind of fraying areas of some of those ligaments. ... It's to clear that out."
"So, what ends up typically happening is the scar tissue and otherwise creates more of that inflammation when you pound on it. So, now let's clear out some of that and hopefully that'll alleviate some of that stress going forward," he added.
Byron Buxton has been playing through pain for most of the season. Aside from his knee, he also dealt with hip issues. Still, the second overall pick of the 2012 MBL Draft managed to record a .224 average, 28 homers, 51 RBI, and six steals in 92 games.
This is also Byron Buxton’s first year after signing his massive, seven-year, incentive-laden $100 million contract extension. Let’s all pray for Byron Buxton’s speedy recovery. He’ll be back in the field before we know it!
