Dodgers win the 2024 World Series reaction

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2024 World Series over the New York Yankees with their 7-6 Game 5 victory at Yankee stadium on October 30 beating out the Bronx Bombers 4-1 in the series.
The Dodgers take the chip on the back of their starting pitching and bats coming up with some clutch homer runs in key spots.
Game 5 could have been so different too as the Yankees did not go down without a fight. New York went ahead 5-0 in the first three innings with back-to-back homers from Aaron Judge with a two-run homer and a solo shot from Jazz Chisholm Jr., in the bottom of the first. This was the first time a team hit two homers in a row when facing elimination in the first innings of a World Series game.
Alex Verdugo’s RBI single in the 4th and Giancarlo Stanton’s solo home run shot made it 5-0 with Stanton tying Mickey Mantle for third most postseason home runs in Yankees history on 18.
Things looked good for the Yankees until the top of the fifth innings, when the Dodgers rallied using Yankees errors to their advantage. Mookie Betts got the scoring going with an RBI single for 5-1. Freddie Freeman then hit an RBI double to make it a 5-3 ball game. LA completed the comeback with Teoscar Hernández’s two-run double.
Giancarlo Stanton’s sacrifice-fly put the Yankees back in front in the bottom of the sixth 6-5. However, the Dodgers once again drew level with a sacrifice-fly of their own from Gavin Lux making it a 6-6 game. Finally, the World Series winning run for the Dodgers came off another sacrifice-fly, this time from Mookie Betts off of Yankees closer Luke Weaver.
Walker Buehler struck out Alex Verdugo to take the game and the series 4-1 meaning the Dodgers won their eighth World Series title in franchise history and seventh since they moved to LA. Their last title came in the shortened 2020 Covid season, however, no one can argue with their 2024 victory.
The Dodgers were the best team in MLB for the entire season. They had the best MLB regular season record going 98-64 (60.5% win percentage) and only dropped five playoff games on their way to winning the 11 they needed for the ring.
LA also posted some serious history with their game 5 comeback as this was the largest comeback in a World Series clinching win beating the 1925 Pirates comeback who trailed by four and considering this was the 120th Fall Classic that is some statistic.
With the Yankees going ahead again, this was also the first time in postseason history that a team went down by five runs, came back, went behind again, before coming back to win. Just to show how big of a comeback this is, teams are now 7-227 when trailing by at least five runs in the World Series and 20-624 when trailing by at least five runs in the postseason.
“There’s always talk about the Dodgers being so talented but they discount how tough we are and this postseason we showed how tough we are and we can counter punch too.”, said Dave Roberts, the Dodgers head coach on ESPN.
Along with the Yankees, the Dodgers have probably the most pressure to win in MLB and this season they did just that. The offseason moves they made to get Yamamoto and Ohtani in the end paid off with the most coveted baseball prize.
