However, sports enthusiasts should not confuse popularity with success on the field, as not all fan-favorite MLB Teams consistently secure championships. As such, with September fast approaching, let us look into the top MLB teams based on recent performances on the field.

  1. Milwaukee Brewers

While often considered to be at the bottom rank when it comes to market size, the Milwaukee Brewers is considered to have secured the best record in the league.

The Milwaukee Brewers is considered to have the best winning percentage in the Majors and is on track to break the all-time franchise wins record. In fact, their record shows they can go head-to-head with other MLB powerhouses because instead of trying to compete dollar for dollar, they create an environment for their team where excellence is better rewarded.

Despite the accolades, a lot of baseball fans think the Brewers do not deserve the number one spot citing their record that the last time they reached the World Series was in 1982. Yet, many analysts believe they have built a lot for their record to cushion their performance in recent seasons showing strategic plays.

Their plays are almost always excellent that their fans often place bets on their plays and seek guidance with some of the best sports betting pages to gain insights about baseball betting strategy and to properly place a worthy bet, as they often show the best odds. In doing so, their fans get an extra layer of excitement as they deeply become invested not only in the performance of their favorite team but also in the outcome of their bets.

accordingly, with the way the Milwaukee Brewers started great in the recent season, their fans that are into sports betting may be in for a treat as their performance is predicted to be the one that could propel them to the World Series.

  1. Philadelphia Phillies

Despite suffering a low performance last season, Philadelphia Phillies is at the 2nd spot of top performing MLB teams in the league.

In this year’s season, the team appears to have a determined focus on maintaining their level of excellence despite Zack Wheeler’s health scare. While Wheeler's injury dashed their hopes for the World Series, the team continues to be confident with Suarez and Sanchez to cover.

Just like the Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies is also not a crowd-favorite. However, analysts believe this team has the most passionate fanbase to date.

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers

Lastly, we have the Los Angeles Dodgers with its franchise name resounding all throughout the MLB history.

This team is considered a quality performer team especially with last year’s championship win. One of their greatest, Chase Utley said that their team’s entire line-up has the ability to hit a home run together with their ability to also play great defence.

Aside from their performance, their popularity is also something that cannot be ignored! The Dodgers sold around 1 million more tickets in 2022-2023 season. Accordingly, their team’s social page is at par with the New York Yankees.

The Most Used Tactics and Strategies By Top MLB Teams

Now that we have gotten to know some of MLB’s greatest, many fans are also pumped in getting to know some of the top teams’ iconic plays that solidified their spot as MLB’s top teams.

  1. Selective Aggression When Hitting the Bat

The batter’s approach is the heart of an MLB team’s offensive strategy. Hitters need to handle different types of pitches and accordingly adjust their swing depending on the pitch.

As such, advanced hitters study pitcher’s tendencies and adjust their swing depending on the pitch. Like every hitters in baseball league, the art of selective aggression is a common strategy often used to adjust one’s swing to the pitcher’s style.

  1. The Shift

Aside from adjusting their swing, the shift in MLB has become one of the widely used defensive techniques.

For those that are unfamiliar with this technique, the shift is defined as changing the typical defensive alignment. It is where the defense intentionally adjusts their play to anticipate the offensive play of the other team.

Some of the variations of the shift includes: 1) Centerfield shift, where all players play except for the centerfielder who adjusts their play depending on the batter’s tendencies; 2) Outfield shift, where outfielders move in towards either right or left filed foul line; and the 3) Lefty shift which is done when a lefty hitter walks up to the plate.

  1. Leaping Catch

Lastly, we have the leaping catch that is often done by an outfielder.

While it is difficult to anticipate how hard the batter hits the ball, outfielders have to be prepared to react quickly and adjust their position accordingly. As such, when the ball was hit a bit too hard, outfielders often perform the leaping catch to make sure they get to catch it.

The most recent memorable leaping catch was the one done by Mookie Betts who made a fantastip leap grab at the wall saving at least a run.

Final Thoughts

It is undeniable that MLB continues to be a top sport for some sports fans.

No matter whether their favorite team is on the top performing list, you can best expect that fans will cherish everything from the most thrilling plays to mere decent plays. Due to this love for the sport, many baseball fans nurture every play while recognizing every strategic and intelligent play done.

Whether it’s an aggressive hit by the batter or the leaping catch by an outfielder, the unforgettable moments in baseball are testament to the sport’s rich history and ever-evolving nature. As we celebrate these captivating plays and the strategies that drive them, we look forward to new legends and more iconic plays!
