The 2024 World Series is set with two juggernauts of the game, the Los Angeles Dodgers facing the New York Yankees in a best of seven series for baseball’s most sought-after prize.
Both teams are steeped in history with the Yankees having a whopping 27 World Series titles- the most by any team and the Dodgers have six, the 6th most all-time of any franchise.
Alongside their history, the Dodgers and Yankees are two of the richest teams in MLB. The Yankees has the second highest payroll in 2024 with $309,434,607 second only to the New York Mets. The Dodgers have the fifth highest payroll for 2024 with $241,010,117.
This Fall Classic will be one for the ages as the Dodgers and Yankees franchises is the most common matchup for the World Series with 2024 being the 12th time the two teams meet for the MLB Championship. This season also marks the first time since 1981 that the title will be decided between Hollywood and Broadway.
All-time, the Yankees have the World Series matchup 8-3, however, this includes a 6-1 record when the Dodgers were in Brooklyn and since the Dodgers have been in LA the series is tied 2-2 with the Dodgers winning the last series 43 years ago 4-2.
This heavyweight clash of the titans begins on Friday October 25 at Dodger Stadium with first pitch at 8:08 PM Eastern Time. In the current format, the first two games of the series with be in LA, with the series then moving to New York for three matches.
