Sheduer Sanders Heisman Hopeful
Sheduer Sanders Heisman Hopeful

Boulder, CO -- Colorado has only had one Heisman Trophy winner in its school history, back in 1994, when running back Rashaan Salaam won the award. Since then, the Buffaloes haven't had a contender for the prize. Everyone knows about Travis Hunter, but Sheduer Sanders is still in contention.
Sanders, in two seasons at Colorado, had fantastic years. In 2023,. He had 3,230 passing yards with 27 touchdowns and three interceptions, and this season is at 2,268 yards, 19 touchdowns, and six interceptions. In both of his seasons at Jackson State, he also had over 3,000 passing yards. What matters, however, is this season. Now, the Heisman race has seemed to be a two-horse race between Sanders' teammate Travis Hunter and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, but there is one thing with the Heisman that works in Sanders's favor, and it's not his last name.
36 out of 89 winners of the Heisman have been quarterbacks, the most out of any position. Only 21 have been running backs, and another 17 have been halfbacks. So, for Sanders being a quarterback, that puts him in a good position. He would have to continue what he's been doing in throwing the football well, and he can not throw any more interceptions to be one of the top three. Unless Travis Hunter or Ashton Jeanty stops doing what they are doing or gets hurt, Sanders will not even be considered, especially with Miami's Cam Ward doing what he's doing in South Beach.
While Sanders and Ward are competing for the Heisman against Jeanty and Hunter, Ward and Sanders are teammates, with their Quarterback's coach being Darell Colbert Jr. He is the founder of Select QB Athletics and a Houston native who has worked with other quarterbacks like Virginia Tech's Kyron Drones, Tampa Buccaneers backup quarterback Kyle Trask. Ward and Sanders worked out with Colbert, who was a Quarterback at Lamar and SMU. While at SMU for two seasons, he was a teammate of Deion Sanders Jr.. Colbert has been working with Sheduer since he was an eighth grader, and while Sanders was in Miami for some time this summer, Cam Ward worked with Colbert and Sanders. Deion Sanders Jr. posted the full video on his YouTube channel, Well Off Media,
Sanders is still in the Heisman race, especially if the Buffaloes continue to win and Sanders continues to elevate. He could be pushing the committee to look his way in the Heisman race. He was phenomenal before arriving in Colorado, but now that he has continued to be good in Colorado, he is in contention for the Heisman race. Sanders current odds to win the heisman per Fox Sports Bet are currently +5000. Which is quite low especially this late in the season but there is still lots of football left to be played. For him to win it, as Sanders would say, it would be "Legendary."
Sanders and the Buffaloes are back in action this weekend at 8:15 MST in Boulder against Cincinnati.
