San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been released from the hospital a day after he was shot through the chest at Union Square.
The 23-year-old wide receiver, who has yet to play a single snap in the NFL, was shot after a struggle for a gun with the suspect during a robbery attempt as he was supposed to be attending an autograph signing event.
It was later revealed that Pearsall didn't need surgery for his gunshot wound and remained lucid and awake during his recovery. Either way, he is expected to be out for at least four NFL games after the San Francisco 49ers placed him on the reserve/non-football injury list.
The San Francisco 49ers acquired Ricky Pearsall via the 31st overall pick in this summer's NFL Draft. He played at Arizona State and Florida in college, with 965 receiving yards and six total touchdowns in his final season with the Gators.
