Pro Wrestling has always been an art of athleticism combined with storytelling and larger-than-life characters. The WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) is famous for epic feuds and drama, but it has also had its fair share of comedy moments in sports entertainment history. Those unscripted moments, often out of pure mistakes that make for some hilarious stuff, have made it on par with the most classic title bouts and storied feuds.

Here, we will just tell you the top 10 funniest WWE moments. These have become one of the many wrestling anecdotes we fans can laugh at and wonder what on earth is going on. The nature of live entertainment in wrestling and WWE's knack for the extreme create ideal conditions for mining comedy gold. We all need to walk into the square again and bring you some of the most memorable, hilarious segments that have ever come across any WWE ring or broadcast.

Top 10 Funniest WWE Moments

1. The Debut of The Shockmaster (1993)

The most infamous and undoubtedly funniest moment in wrestling history is the casting of an episode airing live from WCW (World Championship Wrestling) 1993. August 18, Fred Ottman would bust through a spot in the wall for his Shockmaster debut.

Shockmaster tripped and fell over a piece of wood in the set, sending him face-first to the mat while also dislodging his glittery helmet. The helmet, just one of those painted Stormtrooper helmets from Star Wars, started to roll across the ground as Ottman's face became apparent en masse to both the audience and wrestlers; the former began doing exactly what you would expect.

2. Titus O'Neil Tripped At The Greatest Royal Rumble

O'Neil started running down the 29-yard-long entrance ramp, then fell, tripping on a massive security barricade covering an electrical cord that cut through his run-up space, causing him to slide head-first under the ring. For a situation that caught everyone off guard, it was relatively funny, so much so that the usually stoic commentators immediately started laughing. What they saw was O'Neil's legs poking out from under the ring, a sight that would be replayed and memed for days, even weeks to come.

Oh, and the best part was that O'Neil could laugh at himself. He bounced back and got into the ring not long after, even playing off of what happened in some other outings, proving that when you flub your way through something spectacularly, it may just be best to own up.

3. Booker T's botch (2015)

During a backstage segment, the charismatic and microphone-savvy Booker T delivered one of WWE's most infamous slip-ups. During a promo on Hulk Hogan, Booker T used an offensive racial term by mistake, and his stunned reaction says it all.

It was an entirely off-the-cuff and unplanned incident, all of which made Booker T's reaction even more genuine, not to mention goddamned hysterical. Him: "Did I just say that?" with big, wide eyes, although the reaction of one fan in particular has since become a mainstream wrestling meme and gif.

This is just an example of how even the pros make mistakes, and fans love seeing these unscripted autograph moments the most—they're legit versions of what we don't expect to happen.

4. It Doesn't Matter -The Rock Catchphrase

It was not a specific moment, but The Rock saying "It Doesn't Matter!" belongs on this list because it had the power to always bring a smile to your face.

Why it was so funny is punctuated by Dwayne Johnson's perfect delivery and timing. He would sometimes allow his challengers to go nearly as far into their challenge as they were willing before killing it completely. This allowed the audience to memorize with enjoyment and more eagerly await the punchline.

5. Directed by Stone Cold Steve Austin, 2001

In one side-splitting scene from 2001, Stone Cold Steve Austin tried to raise the spirits of a glum Vince McMahon by performing a guitar solo. The spectacle of the tough-as-nailed Texas Rattlesnake plucking away on an acoustic guitar while doing bad karaoke opened up so many jokes that it was comedy gold.

As a bonus of that comedy segment, Kurt Angle entered the installments and tried to outdo Austin again by displaying his "musical" talents. Watching these normally serious characters partake in such a stupid activity and perform so horribly stuck out as the most cracked moment of humor still presented to date.

6. Santino Marella, Tea Party (2010)

Santino Marella was no stranger to goofiness, and his highlight came from a segment involving a tea party with Sheamus and Vladimir Kozlov. Marella's over-the-top bumbling, embarrassing Brit impression, and slapstick clownery helped to elevate what might otherwise have been a throwaway spot into comedy magic.

The crowning moment came at the end when Marella burned his mouth as he tried gingerly sip tea with one pinky finger in the air and spewed it all over a disgusted-looking Kozlov. It was the perfect storm of humor, his over-the-top reaction, and the deadpan responses from all his tea party companions.

7. DX: Impersonates The McMahons(2006)

In 2006, D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) provided one of their second clique's most gut-busting segments when they mocked Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon. DX then brutally teased the McMahons, donned exaggerated garb, and performed ridiculous caricatures.

The whole thing was full of great impressions. This is where the duo's chemistry and perfect comedic timing shined, transforming what would've been outright mockery into an extensive comedy slapstick.

It showed how humor in professional wrestling could be one of its greatest sources, especially when done by two industry veterans, Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

8. Kurt Angle's Mini Cowboy Hat (2001)

Olympic gold medal-winning pro wrestler Kurt Angle had a funny bone somewhere in him. It ranked up there with his wearing a tiny cowboy hat. The image brought out cries of laughter, but Angle's full-on commitment to the bit was even funnier.

It had to be the most serious classification with that hat atop Angle's head, seemingly unaware of how ridiculous he appeared. The mixture of Angle's serious, no-nonsense character with the so small it was absurd hat gave us visual comedy fans are still referencing today.

9. The Festival of Friendship ( 2017)

Although this moment is mostly known for its sharp part, the run-up to Kevin Owens betraying Chris Jericho was packed with comedic delights. Jericho kept trying to convey his feelings toward Owens, but he did so in a truly Chris Jericho way.

They went from a statue coming off his own hands to "The Creation of Kevin" (a pun on Michelangelo's famous painting), the gifts progressively getting weirder. This made for a lot of hilarious dramatic tension throughout the segment as Jericho delivered his line so sincerely, and Kevin started to get awkward.

10. Random Misunderstandings with R-Truth

R-Truth's comedic misinterpretations and non-sequiturs, many of which have involved the 24/7 Championship, helped turn him into a fan favorite. Not knowing the rules, his opponents, and even what town he is in has given WWE fans many chortles.

There was one particularly amusing instance where R-Truth thought a "Fatal 4-Way" match had been announced. It actually hadn't, even if Tye Dillinger did call the event that match, as he argued to make himself the fifth guy in said four-person fight. This, combined with his dedication to the bit and the annoyed reactions of other wrestlers, created a wealth of comedic moments.

What makes this moment funny is that it humanizes larger-than-life personalities and gives some fun to the often super intense, high-stakes, and thick storylines of pro wrestling. They serve as a reminder that the WWE is an entertainment company, and no matter how scripted or real it may be, they sometimes provide us with moments we will not forget.
