Ric Flair, as he was otherwise called Nature Boy, is undoubtedly one of the most significant figures in the history of professional wrestling. His one-of-a-kind style, larger-than-life personality, and top-quality work between the ropes made him unforgettable in an era that was stacked full of talent. Still, Flair's legacy goes beyond his career to the lives of his children and the wrestling world. This entry looks back at Ric Flair's career and how it has influenced his children, inside & outside of the wrestling business.

The Legendary Career of the Nature Boy

But before we look at how it has affected his children, let's put Ric Flair into perspective. Flair, real name Richard Morgan Fliehr, was born on February 25th,1949, and his wrestling career has spanned over four decades, widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time

As a 16-time world champion, Flair has straps in all of the biggest promotions, WWE, WCW, and NWA. He has also kept fans engaged by cutting promos on the mic and delivering some of the most memorable matches in recent memory, which is why he enjoys the respect of many fans who are simply trying to enjoy themselves watching professional wrestling. Flair's impact on the industry is unquantifiable and has single-handedly created a standard that very few have been able to reach.

Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair has been undoubtedly number one in terms of impact within wrestling circles. The small-town North Carolinian with the big-time wrestling bloodline goes by her middle name, and no one can deny that Flair has flared out a space as arguably the best to step in a ring.

Charlotte never planned on going into wrestling. She started her career in fitness and modeling before she became a full-time wrestler in 2012. With a head start in athleticism and advice from her father, she was fast-tracked through WWE's developmental system before hitting NXT.

Charlotte has been a game-changer in women's wrestling since officially joining the main roster in 2015. She is a multiple champion in WWE, with five reigns as Women's Champion across all its brands. With her ring skills and charisma added to the mix, she has been well-regarded as one of history's great women full-time pro wrestlers.

While Charlotte has given it everything she's got to make a success of herself, there is no denying the inspiration her father lent along the way. She incorporated aspects of Ric's style, adopting his signature "Wooo!" and a variation of the Figure Four Leglock. However, Charlotte has also developed her own identity and legacy while working alongside the influence of her father.

Reid Flair

Reid Flair, whose real name was Reid Randall Fliehr (born February 26, 1988), is Ric's son who also has a future in the wrestling world. Reid began wrestling when he was young, appearing with his father on WCW TV and training to follow in the footsteps of The Nature Boy.

Tragically, Reid's career would be unexpectedly cut short. After years of battling substance abuse, he died at 25 on March 29, 2013. Reid's death was a crushing blow to the entire Flair family and the wrestling community in general.

Although his career was short, Reid left a lasting impact on the people who loved him most, including his father and sister Charlotte. This was a wake-up call for Ric, and he began the process of making important changes to his personal life. The death of Reid or his "call to fly home" was a key part of Charlotte's creation mythos and origin story, turning losing her brother into motivation that she would use as fuel on her way up.

David Flair

Ric Flair's eldest son is David Richard Fliehr, born on March 6, 1979. David quit wrestling earlier than Charlotte and Reid. He was introduced to a WCW career in 1999, at the peak of his father's immense popularity with said promotion.

Undoubtedly, David enjoyed luxury thanks to his father, who lent a helping hand to several angles during his time in WCW. However, he failed to achieve global fame as a solo artist. He wrestled on the independent circuit for a little while at Dave but retired from pro wrestling.

David today has a more private life out of the limelight. He lives in Shelby, North Carolina, and has a wife, so not all of Ric Flair's children thought it was best to pursue wrestling careers.

Megan Flair

Meanwhile, Ric's oldest daughter, Megan Flair, has opted for a break from wrestling. Unlike her siblings, her name never made headlines, nor did her life. Here, we see a different path chosen by one of Ric Flair's children, as others elected to follow in the family business while those have ventured on their own paths.

The Greatness of Ric Flair

Ric Flair's impact extends past his close family to those in the wrestling community. Flair is an influence on many current male and female wrestlers. Over the years, many have copied his style in and out of the ring.

While the legacy of Ric Flair in wrestling is unquestionable, that impact has been a double-edged sword behind for his children. At the height of WWE fame as her daughter, Charlotte has worked her way from a "no-name" Triple H developmental project to a force in women's wrestling.

Despite the different paths chosen by each of Ric's children, there are many realms in which their professional influences can be seen. Living up to her family legacy, Charlotte became a star in her own right and ultimately paid tribute to the contributions of one Ric Flair. David and Megan show that the possibilities are only limited to more or less traditional life, like most children of celebrities, one within the spotlight and spotlight-free.
