The 2028 Summer Olympics, commonly known as LA2028, is an upcoming international multi-sport event that will be held in the United States, with Los Angeles as the host city, from July 14 to 30, 2028.
Los Angeles and Paris were concurrently awarded the rights to host the 2024 and 2028 Olympics following multiple withdrawals from other candidate cities. Los Angeles had originally bid for 2024, but Paris preferred the 2024 Games, and both sides agreed for the latter to host 2024 and the former to host 2028.
Los Angeles is the third three-time host city to host the Olympics after London (1908, 1948, 2012) and Paris (1900, 1924, 2024), and they are the first non-European city to achieve such a feat.
Several venues include the Crypto.com Arena, Intuit Dome, BMO Stadium, SoFi Stadium, Riviera Country Club, and the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Notable sports inclusions and exclusions in the 2028 Olympics
Baseball/softball, cricket, flag football, and lacrosse were approved by the IOC last year after the Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee proposed adding them to the program.
Meanwhile, boxing, modern pentathlon, and weightlifting were provisionally dropped from the quadrennial meet pending a resolution of governance issues.
