Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones had quite the headache in the offseason. They needed to settle deals for Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, and CeeDee Lamb such that the Dallas Cowboys had a fair shot of winning this season. However, it seems like this squad is not at all living up to their contract numbers. Will it affect their chances of getting to a postseason berth? It could very well be the case and we'll dissect why.
How are the Cowboys after Week 3?
The proper term that most fans might be looking for is underwhelming. They have gone three weeks and just won a single game. Their narrow loss to the Baltimore Ravens may also be deceiving as they lost with a 28-25 scoreline but they were playing catch up the whole time.
To put their struggles into perspective, they only scored a meager six points throughout three quarters against the Ravens. The 19 points they managed to put out was when the game was far out of their reach in the fourth quarter. This is a testament to how ugly they have been playing.
Dak Prescott delivers the blunt truth
The Cowboys signal-caller noted how terrible they played in Week 3. Moreover, it was an amalgam of issues which led to them getting decimated by the Lamar Jackson-led squad. With all that said, he knows that the offense cost them that game and this is where their focus should be moving forward.
“We got to help our defense. I know their standard and they don’t want to allow 28 points. But 28 points against an MVP player, an offense like that, that’s a game we have to score 30 in. We know it. We didn’t do it. Us as players, we’ve got to be more professional, understand our jobs, understand where we’re supposed to be, and do that time and time again and keep our focus,” he declared.
As of the moment, this Cowboys squad does not look ready to compete for the Super Bowl, let alone a playoff berth. Will they turn things around in Week 4 against the New York Giants?
