Why Malik Nabers Thrives with Jameis Winston Over Russell Wilson

In the ever-changing landscape of the NFL, there are few stories that have intrigued the fan base as much as the growing relationship between Malik Nabers and Jameis Winston. With the 2025 season on the horizon, rumors abound as to whether Nabers would be better with Winston or Russell Wilson at quarterback. While Wilson's deal with the Giants has raised more than a few eyebrows, analysis shows that Nabers might do even better with Winston under center.

The Winston Effect

Aggressive-reputation quarterback Jameis Winston has a history of elevating his receivers' fantasy value. With the Buccaneers, he led Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to fantasy elite finishes. His stint with the Browns most recently included Jerry Jeudy's best NFL season to date, with 90 catches for 1,229 yards and four scores. In Winston's seven games, Jeudy averaged seven receptions and 112.3 yards per game, moving him to WR5 in fantasy scoring.

"Winston's downfield ball-push complements Nabers' route-running accuracy and speed well," Giants' offensive coordinator Mike Kafka said. "Their connection could lead to explosive plays fantasy owners love."

Nabers' Ascension to Fame

Malik Nabers materialized out of nowhere in 2024 for an outstanding freshman year, reeling in 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in split workhorse duties with a foursome of QBs. His performance was enough to secure a Pro Bowl roster spot as well as sixth at the fantasy receiver position in scoring.

With Winston in charge, Nabers would be able to see his production increase significantly. Winston's willingness to push the ball downfield and take risks is the perfect complement to Nabers' skills as a receiver. This combination could lead Nabers to be the No. 1 fantasy wide receiver in 2025, something that may be more difficult to do with Wilson.

The Russell Wilson Factor

Russell Wilson, as an established quarterback, is a different sort. His recent game has been more cautious, and that could clog the ceiling for Nabers. Wilson averaged fewer than 20 fantasy points per outing in 2024 and has not been a stalwart behind top-tier fantasy receivers since departing Seattle.

"Russell Wilson is an excellent quarterback, but his style of play may not be conducive to the same amount of explosive plays that Jameis Winston can make," noted NFL analyst Ryan Clark. "For a big-play receiver like Nabers, Winston could be the better fit."

As the NFL season gets underway, everyone will be watching Malik Nabers and his quarterback situation. While Russell Wilson offers stability, Jameis Winston offers the potential of explosive plays that can elevate Nabers to a new level. If given the opportunity to play with Winston, Nabers might well be in the best position to become the league's top receiver. The choice between Winston and Wilson is not just about quarterback play; it's about which system best complements Nabers' special talents. For now, the buzz surrounding a Winston-Nabers union is sincere, and fans are eager to find out if this power duo can follow through on its promise.
