The Kansas City Chiefs have found the clear-cut top receiver in their roster post-Tyreek Hill. It was also just a matter of time because Travis Kelce's regression has been quite immense too. Who is the person who got the title of WR1 during the 2024 season? Well, he goes by the name of Rashee Rice and he has a lot of insipirations. This includes his dad, Drashee Rice.
Rashee Rice's road to winning a Super Bowl
Rashee was born on the 22nd of April back in 2000. Despite being born in Philadelphia, his parents, Marsha Kearney and Drashee Rice, moved all the way to Texas. He attend school at North Richland and became a star there after racking up three stars as a recruit and being named the top weapon in his district.
From then on, his career only took off. He joined the SMU Mustangs. Rashee was able to get an honorable mention All-AAC nod during his junior year. Moreover, he finished his college career with an astounding 1,355 receiving yards on 96 catches alongside 10 touchdowns.
He was not expecting much during the 2023 NFL Draft but this only made Andy Reid's call more memorable. He was picked 55th overall in the second round to be the next receiver for Patrick Mahomes.
By the end of his rookie campaign, he had already shown a lot of promise. Rashee notched 26 receptions throughout the Chiefs' Super Bowl 58 run which was the most that any rookie has posted in league history.
Drashee Rice and his relationship with the Chiefs WR
The tough reality is that both of his parents are separated. Drashee would only see them together during big life events or huge games at SMU or with the Chiefs. This is largely because they formed their own families after separating. Nonetheless, they still have a lot of love for their son. The Chiefs weapon even attributes his insane thirst for winning to his dad.
"Happy Father's Day to this man the greatest man alive that pushed me to be who I am today love you dad. DRashee Rice," he wrote on a Facebook post back in 2017.
As of the moment, Rashee is facing a lot of challenges. He got into a crash that involved six cars and is currently being evaluated further after getting injured in their game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
