Where will Tee Higgins go?

Entering the 2025 offseason, there will be a lot of questions regarding free agency. The biggest question regards the wide receiver free agent market where a lot of big name stars are set to hit the market.
Tyreek Hill made it clear that he will be exploring his options this offseason and Davante Adams said he would likely leave the New York Jets if Aaron Rodgers leaves.
However despite these two receivers being household names, it’s evident that both Hill and Adams will be entering the twilight of their careers and NFL GM’s are wary of this fact.
Most teams will be looking at younger receivers entering the open market for the first time and are entering the prime of their careers. One of these receivers is Jets wideout Garrett Wilson, who wants out of New York like Adams.
While Wilson will be a target for many NFL teams, he isn’t the number one priority in free agency this year. That title belongs to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Higgins has been the number two option receiver for Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense. His NFL accomplishments have been overshadowed by recent triple crown winner Ja’Marr Chase. While Chase has been a star, Higgins has become a great player as well.
Drafted out of Clemson in 2020, Higgins has been a reliable option for Burrow. He recorded back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in 2021 and 2020, he helped Cincinnati reach the Super Bowl in 2021 and even scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl.
If it wasn’t for Chase, Higgins would be the number one option in Cincinnati. That being said, it’s likely that a team is willing to pay big money to have Higgins on their team and it’s likely he will be their number one receiver.
Teams like the Denver Broncos will be looking at Higgins this offseason. Denver has a young franchise quarterback brewing in their organization and they’re looking to get him some help this offseason.
Higgins would surely be an option for Denver and the Broncos will have a lot more cap space in 2025. However, is Denver willing to pay big for Higgins or will some other team do it?
Joe Burrow has expressed interest in taking a pay cut in order to keep Higgins on the Bengals, but it could be a futile attempt.
Cincinnati will enter 2025 with $49 million in cap space. However, if Burrow can take a pay cut regarding his salary it will then likely free up $19.2 million in cap space. This could give the Bengals some wiggle room to re-sign core players.
While Higgins will be a priority, the team also has other core players hitting free agency. Players such as Mike Gesicki, Mike Hilton and BJ Hill could be other players that Cincinnati will prioritize this offseason.
Which leads to the question of where will Tee Higgins end up? The Bengals would love to have one of their best players back, but will Higgins be satisfied with being Cincinnati’s number two option?
