The regular season still has five weeks to go, but it's never too early for a mock draft. Here's an early look at how the top ten picks could shake out.
1. Giants - Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
The Giants are projected to receive the No. 1 overall draft pick, and they need a quarterback. Who better to choose than the consensus top collegiate QB, Shedeur Sanders. We know Deion loves the "primetime," and Sanders would have plenty of opportunities to play under the bright lights of New York City.
2. Jaguars - Will Campbell, OT, LSU
The Jaguars paid big money to make Trevor Lawrence their quarterback, but he has now suffered three injuries in the past two years, and does not look like the same player who won a playoff game over the Chargers two years ago. Jacksonville needs to keep Lawrence healthy and keep his pocket clean if they want to succeed. Bolstering their offensive line with the SEC's top pass-blocker would do wonders for the Jags.
3. Raiders - Cam Ward, QB, Miami
The Raiders have had a ton of bad luck when it comes to quarterbacks in 2023 and 2024. Last year, they signed Jimmy Garrappallo, only for him to get hurt and eventually get benched in favor of rookie Aiden O'Connell. Then in 2024, they turned to Gardner Minshew, who is now out for the season with a broken collerbone. Aiden O'Connell also broke his thumb, so the Raiders are down to their third string QB Desmond Ridder.
Clearly, Las Vegas could use a healthy young QB to reboot their offense, and Cam Ward fits the bill. He's got all the traits that scouts look for, and he has experience playing in the west coast when he was at Washington State.
4. Jets - Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado
Travis Hunter is a star, and will fit right in with the New York culture of diva's and big personalities. The Jets don't necessarily need another receiver or cornerback, but will they be able to resist the temptation of Hunter, whose star power will fill the stadium regardless of the results on the field?
5. Browns - Mason Graham, DL, Michigan
The Browns have built a culture of defense, and can continue to add to an already strong defensive line by adding Graham, the top defensive lineman in the country.
6. Titans - Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State
The Titans need a quarterback, but with no top QB prospects remaining, they probably choose to go defense in the first round. Abdul Carter is one of the best edge rushers in the country, able to get to the quarterback and create pressure. The Titans could use help on both sides of the ball.
7. Patriots - Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
This year's class of receivers is somewhat weak compared to past draft classes, but McMillan stands above the rest of the field. The Patriots need a new top wideout for young QB Drake Maye, who has thrown 11 TD's to 11 different pass-catchers so far in 2024!
8. Cowboys - Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
No. 8 might feel high to draft any running back, even if it is the current Heisman frontrunner Ashton Jeanty. However, Dallas has been one of the worst running teams in the league; they need a running back. Dak Prescott is known to struggle when he does not have a run-game to back him up, and the Cowboys have had success with great young backs before (Zeke in 2016), so this feels like a good pair.
9. Panthers - Kelvin Banks Jr, OT, Texas
The Panthers need to protect their young quarterback in Bryce Young. They have plenty of needs, but offensive line might be their biggest need of all. Some scouts believe Banks is the best lineman in the draft, and getting him at No. 9 could be a steal for Carolina.
10. Saints - Emeka Embuka, WR, Ohio State
The Saints have been without Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed since the end of October, and it has really exposed how thin their receiving corps really are. If the plan is to run it back for another season with Derek Carr under center, New Orleans needs to provide him with more weapons. Embuka would be a good start.
