While it's still early, there have been some major breakout stars in fantasy football for 2024. Let's take a look at the top five fantasy steals so far of 2024.
1. Jayden Daniels, QB, Washington Commanders
Daniels has without a doubt been the biggest draft steal, as he has proven himself to be one of the most dynamic young quarterbacks in the league. He was being drafted as QB12, but is currently the QB2, only trailing 2023 MVP Lamar Jackson in fantasy points, with 22.7 PPG.
2. Drake London, WR, Atlanta Falcons
London was drafted at an average position of 21, making him a late-second round or early-third round selection in most leagues. So far this season, he has performed like a first round pick, averaging over 20 PPG over the past four weeks. London is the current WR7, but based on his current trajectory with Kirk Cousins, he may quickly launch himself into the top-five receiver conversation.
3. Jordan Mason, RB, San Francisco 49ers
As long as CMC remains on the IR, Jordan Mason will be a great option to start at running back. So far, Mason is RB6, averaging 16.6 PPG. That might not keep up if and when CMC does return, but through five weeks Mason is having a breakout year. He was drafted at an average position of 188!
4. Diontae Johnson, WR, Carolina Panthers
Buried in a Carolina offense that has been mostly lifeless, it's easy to forget about Diontae Johnson. He was drafted at an average position of 86, making WR39 in the draft. He's outdone those expectations so far, averaging 12.4 PPG to make him WR25. He's got some boom or bust potential, with two games above 20 points and three games below 10 points.
5. Xavier Worthy, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Worthy has not truly broken out yet, but he has already outperformed expectations, and with Rashee Rice now out, Worthy is set to take over as the Chiefs number one option at WR. He was being drafted as WR37, and has performed as WR30, averaging 11.6 PPG. But he's improving rapidly, and may soon be into the top-20 as his volume is sure to increase.
