Steelers’ Super Bowl Odds After Ramsey, Rodgers, and Metcalf Additions

Steelers’ Super Bowl Odds After Ramsey, Rodgers, and Metcalf Additions

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2025 offseason has been nothing short of transformative, marked by high-profile acquisitions that have shifted their Super Bowl odds and reignited hope among fans and analysts alike. The additions of Aaron Rodgers, Jalen Ramsey, and DK Metcalf have positioned the Steelers as a legitimate contender, though sportsbooks remain cautiously optimistic.

Rodgers’ Arrival: Stability at Quarterback

The Steelers’ signing of four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers on a one-year deal was a headline-grabbing move that slightly improved their Super Bowl odds from +4500 to +4000 at major sportsbooks like Sportsbook and BetMGM. While Rodgers is well past his prime entering his 21st NFL season and recovering from an Achilles injury he represents a significant upgrade over the previous quarterback room, which included Mason Rudolph and rookie Will Howard. Rodgers’ late-season performance last year, with a 0.135 Expected Points Added (EPA) per play and a 48.5% success rate, was notably better than Russell Wilson’s struggles, giving the Steelers a more reliable presence under center.

Mike Tomlin’s Steelers have never won fewer than eight games during his 18-year tenure, and with Rodgers’ steady hand, the team expects to capitalize on its historically strong defense and new offensive weapons. Rodgers himself acknowledged the challenge, emphasizing consistency over heroics, “I don’t need to be the extraterrestrial hero; I just need to manage the game and let the defense do their job.” This pragmatic approach fits Pittsburgh’s blueprint well.

Ramsey’s Impact: Defensive Dominance

The blockbuster trade for three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, along with tight end Jonnu Smith, has further boosted the Steelers’ defensive outlook. Ramsey’s arrival immediately improved the Steelers’ secondary, which ranked eighth against the pass last season, allowing 228.0 yards per game. Ramsey’s elite coverage skills create a formidable “pick-your-poison” scenario alongside young star Joey Porter Jr., who allowed just one touchdown in nearly 30 career games.

Following the trade, sportsbooks like FanDuel and BetMGM adjusted the Steelers’ Super Bowl odds slightly from +4500 to around +4000 tying them with teams like the Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos for 15th place in the odds rankings. However, DraftKings has kept the Steelers’ odds steady at +3500, reflecting some skepticism about how quickly Ramsey’s presence will translate into postseason success.

Metcalf and Offensive Firepower

Alongside Rodgers, the Steelers secured Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf earlier in the offseason, adding a dynamic vertical threat to the offense. Metcalf’s combination of size, speed, and contested catch ability complements Rodgers’ precision passing, giving Pittsburgh a more balanced and explosive aerial attack than in recent years.

Odds and Outlook

Despite these impactful moves, the Steelers’ Super Bowl odds remain long compared to AFC powerhouses like the Bills, Ravens, Chiefs, and Bengals. For example, the Bills and Ravens are favored at around +700, while the Steelers linger near +4000. This gap reflects concerns about Rodgers’ age and durability, the team’s offensive line depth, and the competitiveness of the AFC North.

Still, the Steelers have a strong foundation. Their defense, bolstered by Ramsey and returning stars, combined with Rodgers’ veteran savvy and Metcalf’s playmaking, creates a roster capable of a deep playoff run. As one analyst put it, “The Steelers don’t need Rodgers to be MVP-caliber; they need him to be steady and efficient. With the defense and weapons they’ve added, that’s enough to make them a threat”.

The Steelers’ 2025 offseason has reset expectations. While sportsbooks remain cautious, the blend of Rodgers’ experience, Ramsey’s lockdown defense, and Metcalf’s offensive prowess makes Pittsburgh a team to watch. Their Super Bowl odds may not yet reflect true contender status, but the Steelers have laid the groundwork for a serious challenge in the upcoming season.
