Patrick Mahomes is now one step closer to the GOAT

After taking down the Buffalo Bills for the fourth time in the last five seasons, Patrick Mahomes is one step closer to becoming the GOAT of the NFL. But what does he need to accomplish the feat?
It feels like Mahomes winning a fourth Super Bowl ring is inevitable. The Eagles already lost to Kansas City in the Super Bowl two years ago, and the Chiefs have been unstoppable all season long. But would a threepeat, and a fourth ring, make Mahomes the greatest quarterback of all time?
Not so fast. Tom Brady has seven rings and has the honor of being the only quarterback to deal Patrick Mahomes multiple playoff defeats. In fact, Brady is 2-0 against Mahomes. Against all other quarterbacks, he is 17-1 in the postseason.
So the question lingers, what can Mahomes do to eventually overtake Brady in the GOAT discussion? He will need to win eight rings. Seven rings would not be enough, because Brady would still have the tiebreaker, courtesy of his win in the 2021 Super Bowl, when the Buccaneers defeated the Chiefs.
Still, Sunday’s win over the Bills brought Mahomes one step closer to Brady’s position as the best player of all time. He is now the favorite to win his fourth Super Bowl trophy, and no other quarterback is really coming close to his level of dominance in the modern era. He is certainly the best player right now and will continue to be as long as he keeps winning. There seems to be no stopping Patrick Mahomes.
