The Green Bay Packers faithful were ready to rule out an early season run. However, their quick judgments were quickly put to rest by Malik Willis. After Jordan Love got injured, he stepped up big time in leading Matt LaFleur's offense. His greatest game to date? Well, it was against the Tennessee Titans who dealt him away during the offseason.
Clearly, Love will still be the team's number one option when he returns. But, will the Packers ride out the momentum they are getting because of Willis? Let's uncover the answer.
Malik Willis pops off for the Packers in a time of need
No one expected Matt LaFleur's squad to have two wins and only one loss after losing Jordan Love. Nonetheless, they now have a two-game winning streak to protect after Willis went nuts against his former team.
He was very surgical in making sure that the ball went to the right hands. In fact, he only missed six of his 19 passing attempts. This insane performance gave the Packers 202 yards as the Titans defense also failed to get an interception off of Willis. To top it all off, he recorded a rushing and passing touchdown in this game which made their fans go nuts.
Coach Matt LaFleur loves what he's seeing from the reliever
There is no certainty for when Love returns to the Packers system. This is why the head honcho is very happy that Willis has been phenomenal in the past two weeks. He even had big declarations about the quarterback.
“I just cannot articulate the job that he’s done in a short period of time. I can’t fathom that. I promise you, you guys don’t get it. I know you think you got it, but you don’t get it. What he’s been able to do, I’ve never seen something like this," he said.
The Packers' next challenge is the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. Will they come out on top in this NFC North clash come Week 4?
