Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill recalled his traumatic experience of his incident with the police when he was driving to the Hard Rock Stadium on Monday.
“I was shocked. It was crazy because it all happened so fast. Like for me, it just all happened so fast and I really couldn’t like gather everything that was happening,” Hill said in an interview with CNN.
“I wasn’t moving fast because, you know I got injuries; I got things that I go through. I play a physical sport; I’ve been doing this for a moment now, man, so I’m dealing with some stuff, so I guess the officers they felt like I wasn’t doing it on their timing,” he added. “I was doing it, but I’m still kind of shell shocked by it. I’m embarrassed.”
Bodycam footage from Miami-Dade Police showed Hill asking the officer who pulled him over to give him his ticket for reckless driving because he was running late for the game. The officer, who interpreted Hill's actions as insubordination, physically forced Hill out of the car and handcuffed him down to the sidewalk.
Tyreek Hill and Miami Dolphins teammate Calais Campbell were briefly detained before being released in time to play in the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Tyreek Hill performed well for the Miami Dolphins
Tyreek Hill was the top receiver for the Miami Dolphins in their 20-17 opening victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as he notched seven catches for 130 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The one-time Super Bowl champion hauled in an 80-yard touchdown pass in the second half, and he celebrated the score with a handcuff celebration with Jaylen Waddle.
