According to reports, Harrison Butker will become the highest-paid kicker in the NFL, surpassing Baltimore Raven's Justin Tucker's deal in 2022 (four years, $24 million), as the Kansas City Chiefs will sign him to a new four-year, $25.6 million contract.
Butker had one year left on his current deal. The 29-year-old will earn a guaranteed $17.75 million in his new extension ensuring his stay in Kansas City through 2028.
"There’s no place I’d rather be than with the Chiefs, excited to finalize a 4-year extension. To the Heights!" Butker wrote on his X (formerly known as Twitter) after the extension was confirmed.
Harrison Butker has been consistent for the Kansas City Chiefs, converting 89.1 percent of his field goals (197-for-221) in seven seasons and making 70 percent (28-for-40) of his attempts from beyond 50 yards.
In the postseason, he went 32-for-36 in field goals (88.9 percent) and 62-for-65 in extra points (95.4 percent) en route to helping the Kansas City Chiefs win three Super Bowl championships.
Kansas City Chiefs' Harrison Butker stirred controversy during a commencement speech
Before signing his new contract, Kansas City Chiefs' Harrison Butker made headlines for the wrong reasons due to his widely criticized misogynist and anti-LGBTQ commencement speech at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.
The Kansas City Chiefs kicker defended his controversial remarks, saying that it was a reference to his Catholic faith.
Butker, 29, is entering his eighth NFL season. His team will open their 2024 campaign against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5.
