Islam is one of the biggest religions in the world. Being part of the Muslim faith requires a lot of discipline and sacrifice too. Despite this, a handful of NFL players have still been consistent with their belief systems while also being a force to be reckoned with on the field. So, how many NFL players are Muslim?
As of the moment, there are three players in the NFL who are of the Islamic faith. The oldest active player that is on a roster is Mohamed Sanu. His talents got him drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals during the 2012 NFL Draft. Right now, he is helping Kyle Shanahan with their offensive weapons conundrum as the San Francisco 49ers struggle to find answers due to injuries.
Oday Aboushi also comes to mind. He is currently with the Detroit Lions and has been a staple in Dan Campbell's guard rotation. Surely, Aboushi is going to play a crucial role in the Lions' push to win a Super Bowl.
Another Muslim in the NFL is Ameer Abdullah. This running back is currently with the Justin Jefferson-led Minnesota Vikings. He got into the league back in 2015 and has hopped around teams a couple of times already.
There are two other Muslims in the NFL who are free agents: Muhammad Wilkerson and Dominque Easley. They have been around the league for a quite a while and some teams might give them a shot come Free Agency or the Trade Deadline.
