Conor McGregor's much-anticipated UFC return, slated for 2025, is shrouded in uncertainty. His mercurial nature and injury history cast a shadow of doubt on the Notorious's comeback.
" [John McCarthy] told me on no uncertain terms... [McGregor] is injured, he's hurt himself. His leg, the leg that he broke that snapped against Dustin Poirier. The titanium shin bone has failed." UFC legend Michael Bisping stated on his YouTube channel following McGregor's departure from UFC 303.
For several years, Conor McGregor has been unable to stay healthy during an entire training camp. Now 36, staying healthy in training camp and competing will be difficult. The majority of McGregor's injury history appears to be lower body injuries. If he transitions to Bare Knuckle Boxing, he may avoid those training camp injuries to which he has been susceptible.
With his equity in the company , a fight in BKFC could potentially be more lucrative for McGregor than anywhere else in the world. BKFC President David Feldman expressed his belief that McGregor will see this and choose to fight for the BKFC in an interview with MMA Fighting's Damon Martin.
"Why wouldn't you fight here because you have equity in the company? And if you fight here, you'd probably make more money here than anywhere else in the world because of what it's going to do for the company. I think 100% that he fights here."
When it comes to who he would fight the answer is simple. Mike Perry is the biggest star in the BKFC. McGregor realizes that. So when Mike Perry lost to jake paul, a controversial figure in the combat sports world, in a boxing match in July, McGregor tweeted that Perry was fired.
This has sparked intense anticipation and drama, particularly around the potential showdown between Conor McGregor and Mike Perry.
"Me and him are both owners of BKFC. He can't fire me. We can fight bare knuckle." Perry told reporters after his KO loss to Jake Paul.
Bare Knuckle Fighting makes a lot of sense for the next stage of Conor McGregor's career but first, he has two fights left on his UFC contract. There is no way his next fight will not be with the UFC. Especially with the rumor that he is a massive player in their 2025 TV rights negotiation.
It is impossible to not speculate about Conor McGregor's future. Every fan wants to see the biggest MMA star in history return to fighting. As always, time will tell what McGregor's future holds. He is impossible to predict.
