Pedro Rizzo is a game-changer you might not have heard of. The Brazilian retired from mixed martial arts in 2015 at the age of 41. He had a fine MMA career, mostly spent in the UFC, as went 20-11 in 31 professional bouts, with 15 wins by knockout.
Pedro Rizzo fought three times for the UFC Heavyweight championship - once against Kevin Randleman and twice against the great Randy Couture - and unfortunately lost all three. And yet, the impact he has had on the sport as a whole can be seen to this day.
For those who have not had the opportunity to watch Pedro Rizzo in his prime, do try to look up some videos of his fights. You will find a fighter with arguably the best leg kicks MMA has ever seen.
Pedro Rizzo used those devastating legs kicks as an important part of his arsenal, to great success. Perhaps his most famous fight was his first title bout with Randy "The Natural" Couture in May 2001. In that fight, Pedro Rizzo beat up one of Couture's legs so badly that it actually left a permanent dent on it.
And Pedro Rizzo’s influence did not stop once he retired from the sport. He played a major part in the career of Jose Aldo, who went on to become one of the greatest UFC featherweight champions of all time.
