Team USA’s medal sweep of the 100m event in the World Track and Field Championships wasn’t just all about Fred Kerley. Marvin Bracy-Williams had one hell of a run, too.
Marvin Bracy-Williams clocked in an impressive 9.88 in the tourney, which was good for a silver medal finish behind Fred Kerley and ahead of Trayvon Bromell.
While he did get bested by his fellow Fan Arch athlete, Marvin Bracy-Williams put up one hell of a fight against the tournament favorite. Marvin Bracy-Williams actually started off guns blazing in the race and had the upper hand early on. Even Kerley admitted this but said he was just able to finish stronger to get the close victory.
“I saw Bracy in front of me. He dipped early. I dipped at the right time and got the job done,” Fred Kerley said post-match.

While Marvin Bracy-Williams was a tad disappointed to not get first place, he was also proud of his remarkable showing in the event.
“I thought I won. Fred is a helluva finisher. He got me,” Marvin Bracy-Williams said, per a report from The Sentinel.
“To walk away from my sport, come back and get the job done, it means the world to me. It’s everything I sacrificed for. We got a sweep and I ran a fast time in a very high-level race,” he added.

Missing out on the gold medal only got Marvin Bracy-Williams hungrier for more. Judging by his latest Instagram post, the 28-year-old track superstar will use it as additional motivation to become the best track and field athlete in the game today.
Marvin Bracy-Williams had a similar path to Fred Kerley, starting out as a football player before transitioning to track. In fact, Marvin Bracy-Williams was good enough to turn pro, holding workouts with the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers and a brief stint with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL.
But his heart has always been with track and field, and he ultimately returned to the sport in 2020. We’re all glad Marvin Bracy-Williams chose track and field and we can’t wait to see the heights he’ll reach in the near future.
