Athing Mu was born on June 8, 2002, in Trenton, New Jersey, making her 21 years old as of February 2024. She is of South Sudanese descent and grew up in Trenton with her parents and six siblings.
Rise to Prominence
At just 19 years old, Athing Mu made history by becoming the youngest gold medal Olympian in US history. She achieved this feat by representing Team USA in the women's 4x400m relay and 800m events during the 2020 Summer Olympics. She also won gold at the 2022 World Athletics Championships.
