We all watch sports for many reasons but as sports fans the greatest regard is often reserved for adoration of athletic ability, and our favorite players. As such we tend to forget the experience that helps build these athletes into the amazing people they are. On this occasion, we jump down the rabbit hole into one of sports' most inspirational stories: Shannon and Sterling Sharpe.

The Humble Beginnings

Raised by their grandparents in rural Glennville, Ga., the Sharpe brothers call a modest 1,000 square-foot cinder block home -- with its leaky tin roof and no indoor plumbing --home. They were therefore made aware of a definiteness of purpose and perseverance that would ultimately become the hallmarks of their career. Being raised completely out of the limelight, nestled away from the perceived glitz and glamor typical of professional sports.

Early Life and Sports Talent

Amazingly, despite their tumultuous childhood, the two Sharpe brothers displayed an unnatural ability for physical activity from a very young age. The older of the two, Sterling Sharpe unsurprisingly starred in high school as a three-sport All-State player at Glennville High. He went on to have a great college football career while playing for the Green Bay Packers and his stats were beyond impressive in all the seasons he played.

Shannon's Journey to Success

Shannon Sharpe, the baby of two brothers also showed unusual athletic ability in high school. Davis played college football for the Savannah State Tigers, where he was a notable star and earned accolades that included two-time Kodak Division II All-American in 1988 and 1989 as well as being named SIAC Player of the Year in 1997. His play on the field made him a member of the Division II Football Hall of Fame, Savannah State's athletic Hall of Fame as well as inducted into the Black College Football Hall Of Fane These awards show how amazing Shannon is in this sport.

Resilience and Growth: A Story

Coming from unassuming roots, the Sharpe brothers' rise to great heights in their sports is a story of persistence and grit. Growing up in rural Georgia, they were raised on hard work and persistence, showing from day one how to overcome adversity.

A Comparison of Stats

Given that Sterling Sharpe went on to assemble an outstanding NFL career, filled with stats and accolades from the moment he entered the league, not only did Shannon do just fine but also became one of the greatest tight ends ever to play. Now, he sits in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. These two held fierce talent and passion for their sport, both of whom influenced the world of sports.
The story of Shannon and Sterling Sharpe embodies the spirit of perseverance, toughness, and an attitude toward success. They broke out of humble home lives to reach the heights of their sports; they are not only legendary figures but also travel with a plain background that has struck home in millions long after critical fans and would-be athletes. The Sharpe brothers are remembered for much more than just their impressive numbers, though; it's a story of triumph over adversity and the relentless approach to being great.
