The New Orleans Saints looked to have solved their issues in the latter part of the 2023 season. They may not have clinched the division because of Baker Mayfield’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers but a two-game wins streak in the final stretch of the season showed promise. Now, it sounds like this squad is ready to contend in the NFC South. Despite the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers making big moves, Derek Carr has a lot of belief in his team.
Only having 9 wins in the previous season might not inspire a lot of confidence in some signal callers. However, the Saints and Derek Carr’s situation seems very different. They revamped their air attacks and opened up their rushing game a little bit more. All of this made the quarterback ecstatic about the possible outcomes ahead of them, via Around the NFL.
"We kept sticking together. We kept trying to build that unity and that trust and that bond. I thought it was going to come together a lot sooner. We all probably thought it was going to come together sooner than it did for us. But the truth is, it finally did click. We got a lot closer. We got more unified, and we actually played better toward the end of the year,” he said.
It was just a matter of luck as to why the Saints did not make the postseason in 2024. The Buccaneers faced a very lowly Panthers squad in their last game of the season. So, the odds were stacked against them. Will they be able to change their fate given how much they’ve grown since the last few games of 2023?
