Though most know her as Blake Griffin's ex, Brynn's place in sports history is well and truly set beyond who she used to date. Yes, she has become mainstream due to her relationship with Griffin and her subsequent sons, but little is known about a woman with an incredible basketball career.
Early Life and Background
Brynn Cameron was born in Van Nuys, California, on July 8, 1986. Her father, Stan Cameron, was a former football player, while her brothers also were into sports, and it naturally paved the path for Brynn. At just three years old, she fell in love with basketball, which became a large part of her identity.
Brynn's basketball career started in Newbury Park High School. Her talent on the court was obvious as she turned from unknown to elite player in a hurry thanks to her shooting and ability for cleverness. Her outstanding performance in high school landed her on the University of Southern California (USC) Trojans women's basketball team.
On Her Relationships with Blake Griffin
NBA Star Blake Griffin and Brynn had wed in 2009, and had two children, Ford Wilson Cameron-Griffin and Finley Elaine Griffin. However, the couple was widely publicized up until they broke up. Since ending their relationship, though, Brynn and Blake have made a concerted effort to co-parent civilly for the sake of their kids.
Basketball and Legacy
Cameron played guard at USC during her basketball career. A key part of the team in her time, Brynn shined for USC win after win thanks to her prolific three-point shooting and tenacity on the floor. Even though Cameron chose not to continue as a professional basketball player, her impact on the sport remains appreciable.
On the whole, although she was in the public eye because of her relationship with Blake Griffin, it is not to overshadow all that Brynn Cameron has given to basketball and be remembered as an athlete and a mom.
