A History of Animosity
The roots of the conflict between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis can be traced back to a press conference prior to UFC 296. The Incident Unfolds

Possible Motivations
While the exact motivations behind Sean Strickland's attack on Dricus Du Plessis remain speculative, several factors could have contributed to this violent outburst.
1. Personal Animosity
The heated exchange of words between Strickland and Du Plessis at the press conference suggests a deep-seated personal animosity between the two fighters. MMA rivalries often stem from a combination of professional jealousy, ego clashes, and personal conflicts. 2. Provocation
Du Plessis' actions or words during the event may have provoked Strickland to retaliate. Fighters are known for engaging in mind games to gain a psychological advantage over their opponents. It is conceivable that Du Plessis said or did something that pushed Strickland past his breaking point.
3. Strategy and Promotion
In the world of MMA, controversy sells. Some fighters resort to extreme measures to garner attention and generate hype for their fights. Strickland's attack on Du Plessis may have been a calculated move to create buzz and build anticipation for their upcoming headline bout at UFC 297 in Toronto.
