A wounded animal is the most dangerous when it is cornered. Pedro Munhoz certainly has his back against the wall at the moment, and Sean O’Malley better watch out.
The UFC recently announced the stacked lineup for UFC 276, which features two title fights, as Israel Adesanya defends the Middleweight crown against Jared Cannonier and Alexander Volkanovski getting his trilogy against Max Holloway for the Featherweight title.
Included in the main card as well is a Bantamweight clash between Fan Arch athlete Pedro Munhoz against Sean O’Malley. The two combatants couldn’t be in a more different place right now. O’Malley has racked up three straight wins after tasting the first defeat of his career over Marlon Vera.
Pedro Munhoz, on the other hand, has hit the worst stretch of his MMA career so far, dropping four of his last five bouts.
Judging from that alone, it’s easy to side with the "Suga Show” on this one. However, it will be extremely foolish to count Pedro Munhoz out. Sean O’Malley’s hype train has been derailed before, and Pedro Munhoz is just the type of guy who can do so.
For starters, Pedro Munhoz is as durable as they come and will keep on pushing forward, negating O’Malley’s strike-heavy attacks. The Young Punisher is relentless and his constant pressure will no doubt overwhelm O’Malley.
Let’s not forget Pedro Munhoz possesses a granite chin. He has never been finished in his MMA career. No disrespect to Sean O’Malley, but Pedro Munhoz has dealt with better strikers before and has never been knocked out.
Plus, O’Malley doesn’t really offer much of a threat outside of his striking, which Pedro Munhoz can negate using his strengths. We’ve seen the Brazilian finish fights everywhere, both on the feet and on the ground. He is a blackbelt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu with a lot of submissions on his sleeve.

Pedro Munhoz will no doubt enter this fight with a lot to prove. This match does come with immense pressure since his future with the company will likely depend on it. Then again, the best fighters always find a way to win when the odds are stacked against them.
Pedro Munhoz is still one of the biggest threats in the 135-lb. division, and he’ll prove it against O’Malley in July.
